Description

Delicious and moist banana bread brownies topped with a rich brown butter frosting, perfect for any dessert lover.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1¾ cups ripe bananas (34 bananas)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • ½ cup butter (for frosting)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 3 Tbsp milk (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 15×10″ pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat sugar, sour cream, butter, and eggs until creamy.
  3. Mix in mashed bananas and vanilla.
  4. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Blend well. Stir in walnuts if using.
  5. Pour into pan and bake 20–25 minutes until golden.
  6. For frosting: brown the butter in a saucepan. Remove from heat.
  7. Stir in powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  8. Spread over warm bars. Cool, slice, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Walnuts can be omitted for a nut-free version.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
  • For a sweeter frosting, add more powdered sugar as desired.
