Description

Brown Sugar Pineapple Wings are a perfect blend of sweet and savory flavors, featuring crispy chicken wings coated in a tangy pineapple glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced fine
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and fresh grated ginger until the brown sugar completely dissolves.
  3. Toss the chicken wings into the marinade, making sure every piece is well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight if possible.
  4. Arrange the marinated wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. While the wings are baking, mix the cornstarch and cold water in a small bowl until smooth.
  6. Pour the leftover marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Add the pineapple chunks and stir in the cornstarch slurry until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Once the wings are done, transfer them to a large serving bowl and pour the warm sticky glaze over them. Toss everything together until the wings are completely coated.

Notes

  • For best results, marinate the wings overnight.
  • Feel free to adjust the level of sweetness by varying the amount of brown sugar.
  • Serve these wings as an appetizer or a main dish.
