Description
Brown Sugar Pineapple Wings are a sweet and savory dish that combines the delicious flavors of brown sugar and pineapple with crispy chicken wings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs chicken wings, split at joints
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the chicken wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes, turning halfway through.
- While the wings are baking, combine pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Remove the wings from the oven and brush generously with the pineapple glaze. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes, brushing with more glaze every 5 minutes.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the level of red pepper flakes to control the spiciness.
- For extra flavor, marinate the wings in the sauce for a few hours before baking.
- These wings can also be grilled for a smoky flavor.
