- 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring (optional, for authentic color)
- 4 bone-in, skinless chicken thighs (or boneless, skinless if preferred)

Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice wine, oyster sauce, five-spice powder, garlic, ginger, and food coloring (if using). Stir until well mixed.
- Marinate Chicken: Place chicken thighs in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the chicken. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
- Preheat Grill or Oven: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grill or Roast Chicken: For Grilling: Grill the chicken for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally and basting with extra marinade, until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F / 74°C). For Roasting: Place chicken on a baking sheet and roast for 25-30 minutes, basting occasionally, until the chicken is golden and cooked through.
