Description

A simplified and delicious take on the classic cheesesteak, this homemade hamburger helper is a hearty one-pot meal that combines ground beef with pasta, cheese, and flavorful seasonings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 tsp steak seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 2 TBSP A1 Steak Sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 8 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 2 1/2 cups spiral pasta
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and chopped green bell pepper.
  3. Drain grease and add steak seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and oregano.
  4. Add beef broth, A1 Steak Sauce, tomato sauce, milk, and pasta. The pasta goes in the skillet uncooked and will cook in the beef broth and milk.
  5. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cover with a lid and lower the heat to low.
  6. Cook covered for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Stir in 1 cup of shredded mozzarella and then top with the remaining cup of cheese. Cover with the lid until the cheese is melted.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add some diced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like mushrooms or spinach for added nutrition.
