Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pita bread, for serving
  • Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the chicken thighs to the bowl and coat them well with the spice mixture.
  4. Place the chicken thighs in a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until fully cooked.
  5. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the creamy garlic sauce by mixing Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, mayonnaise, olive oil, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  6. Once the chicken is done, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly.
  7. Warm up the pita bread in the oven.
  8. To assemble the shawarma, place some sliced chicken on a piece of pita bread.
  9. Top with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions.
  10. Drizzle the creamy garlic sauce over the toppings.
