Description

A delightful pastry dessert made of layers of puff pastry, filled with a creamy mixture and drizzled with rich chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed if frozen
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream, chilled
  • 4 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (plus more for dusting)
  • 4 oz cream cheese or mascarpone (for stability)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface to smooth them.
  3. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, prick all over with a fork, and brush lightly with egg wash.
  4. Bake 15–20 minutes, until puffed, golden, and crisp.
  5. Let cool completely, then gently press down if overly puffed.
  6. In a large bowl, whip heavy cream with granulated sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  7. Fold in cream cheese or mascarpone until smooth and stable.
  8. Chill filling while preparing the chocolate.
  9. Place chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  10. Melt over a double boiler or in short microwave bursts, stirring until smooth.
  11. Slice baked puff pastry sheets into equal rectangles or squares.
  12. Place one layer of pastry on a serving plate. Spread with cream filling, then drizzle with melted chocolate.
  13. Repeat with additional pastry layers, cream, and chocolate, finishing with a top pastry layer.
  14. Dust the top with powdered sugar.
  15. Drizzle with extra chocolate for decoration.
  16. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before slicing neatly with a sharp knife.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream is well chilled for easier whipping.
  • You can customize the filling by adding flavors like almond or orange zest.
