Description

A festive baking delight, Christmas Tree Cake Macarons combine the classic macaron with the flavors of Christmas tree cakes to create a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup almond flour, finely ground, blanched
  • 3 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Green gel food coloring
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup finely crumbled snack cakes (Christmas Tree Cakes or similar)
  • 1 pinch salt for filling
  • White chocolate drizzle for decoration
  • Red and green sprinkles for decoration
  • Edible gold stars (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Sift powdered sugar and almond flour together twice.
  2. Beat egg whites until foamy, add cream of tartar, then gradually add granulated sugar and beat to stiff peaks.
  3. Mix in green food coloring.
  4. Gently fold in almond flour mixture until batter flows like lava.
  5. Transfer batter to a piping bag and pipe tree shapes or circles onto lined baking sheets.
  6. Tap trays to remove air bubbles and rest for 30–60 minutes until a skin forms.
  7. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  8. Bake one tray at a time for 14–16 minutes, rotating halfway.
  9. Cool completely before removing from mats.
  10. Beat butter until fluffy.
  11. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, cream, and salt.
  12. Fold in crumbled snack cakes.
  13. Transfer to a piping bag.
  14. Pair similar-sized shells, pipe filling on one, and sandwich with another.
  15. Drizzle with white chocolate, add sprinkles, and place gold star on top if desired.
  16. Refrigerate in an airtight container for 24 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure that egg whites are at room temperature for better volume.
  • Let the macarons mature in the refrigerator for improved flavor and texture.
  • Be gentle when folding the almond flour to avoid deflating the batter.
