A festive and flavorful cranberry sauce perfect for Christmas celebrations.
Ingredients

- 1/2 cup water
- 12 oz fresh cranberries (rinsed and picked over)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- small pinch salt
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 strip orange peel
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine sugar, orange juice, and water.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir the ingredients together until they are well combined and the sugar has started to dissolve.
- Add cranberries, a pinch of salt, a cinnamon stick, and a piece of orange peel to the mixture.
- Stir gently to distribute the cranberries and spices throughout the mixture.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently.
- Allow it to continue cooking for about 10 minutes, or until most of the cranberries have popped.
- Let the cranberry sauce cool for at least 30 minutes in the saucepan.
- Transfer it to a covered container and refrigerate until ready to use.

- The sauce can be prepared up to 3 days in advance.
- Leaving a handful of cranberries whole enhances the texture.
