Description

A festive and flavorful cranberry sauce perfect for Christmas celebrations.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries (rinsed and picked over)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • small pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 strip orange peel

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, orange juice, and water.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir the ingredients together until they are well combined and the sugar has started to dissolve.
  3. Add cranberries, a pinch of salt, a cinnamon stick, and a piece of orange peel to the mixture.
  4. Stir gently to distribute the cranberries and spices throughout the mixture.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  6. Allow it to continue cooking for about 10 minutes, or until most of the cranberries have popped.
  7. Let the cranberry sauce cool for at least 30 minutes in the saucepan.
  8. Transfer it to a covered container and refrigerate until ready to use.
