Description

Crispy Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks are a delicious snack that are easy to make and incredibly satisfying. They are perfectly golden and can be served with marinara sauce for dipping.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooking spray
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Cheese: Cut each mozzarella stick in half to create shorter sticks (optional). Place them on a plate or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Set Up Breading Station: In three shallow bowls, set up your breading station. In the first bowl, add flour and season with a bit of salt and pepper. In the second bowl, beat the eggs. In the third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Coat the Cheese Sticks: Dip each frozen mozzarella stick first into the flour, ensuring it’s well coated. Next, dip it into the egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat for all sticks.
  4. Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the breaded mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the basket.
  5. Cook: Air fry the mozzarella sticks for 6-8 minutes, flipping them halfway through (4 minutes in) until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve: Carefully remove the mozzarella sticks from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
