Description
Delicious crispy bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizers that are perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16–20 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Bacon strips (thin-cut or regular)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Toothpicks
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top if available.
- Pat shrimp dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. In a mixing bowl, toss shrimp with brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and a pinch of cayenne if using until well coated.
- Cut bacon strips in half if large. Wrap one piece of bacon around each shrimp and secure with a toothpick.
- Arrange bacon-wrapped shrimp on the wire rack spaced apart to allow heat circulation. If no rack, place directly on foil-lined baking sheet and plan to flip halfway through baking.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through if on foil, until bacon is golden and crispy and shrimp is opaque and firm. Check at 14 minutes to avoid burning.
- Optional: Broil for 1-2 minutes at the end for extra crispiness, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Let cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with lemon wedges.
Notes
- Using a wire rack helps with even cooking and crispiness.
- Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper according to your spice preference.
- Ensure shrimp are well dried before coating to avoid excess moisture.
