Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 80 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green gel food coloring, as needed
  • 90 g powdered sugar
  • 32 g cornstarch
  • Candy heart sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, blend the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract on medium-low speed until homogeneous.
  2. Gradually incorporate green gel food coloring, mixing thoroughly until the desired vivid green hue is achieved.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for at least 20 minutes to firm up.
  4. Preheat the oven to 175°C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and cornstarch until evenly combined.
  6. Portion out 1.5-tablespoon (approximately 35 g) scoops of dough. Roll each between your palms to form smooth balls.
  7. Roll each dough ball in the powdered sugar mixture, then arrange on the prepared tray, spacing about 5 cm apart.
  8. Gently flatten each ball with your hand or a flat utensil, then press a candy heart into the center of each cookie.
  9. Bake for 8–10 minutes until the edges are just beginning to turn golden and the tops are no longer glossy.
  10. Remove from the oven and allow to rest on the tray for 3 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
