- 1 pound ground beef (85% lean)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring often, until golden and caramelized.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Drain excess fat, then stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Let the mixture simmer for another 5 minutes for the flavors to come together.
- While simmering, toast the hamburger buns.
- Scoop the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, top with shredded Swiss cheese, and place the top bun.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
