Description

Kanom Jeeb Thai Dumplings are delicious and flavorful steamed dumplings filled with a savory mixture of ground pork and aromatic seasonings.


Ingredients

  • 920 g ground pork
  • 1 egg
  • 2 small coriander roots
  • 2 teaspoons black peppercorns
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 35 g carrot, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 dried shiitake mushrooms, soaked and finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons Golden Mountain sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 pack dumpling wrappers
  • Garlic oil, for brushing
  • Crispy fried garlic, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pound coriander roots, black peppercorns, and garlic together in a mortar and pestle until a coarse paste forms.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine Golden Mountain sauce, white sugar, sesame oil, and oyster sauce, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add ground pork, the prepared seasoning mixture, egg, and cornstarch to a food processor. Pulse until a smooth, cohesive mixture is achieved.
  4. Transfer the pork mixture to a large mixing bowl. Thoroughly fold in the crushed aromatics, diced carrot, chopped green onions, and soaked shiitake mushrooms.
  5. Place a dumpling wrapper over the back of a tablespoon to create a well. Spoon filling into the center. Lightly moisten the wrapper edges with water, fold the wrapper up around the filling, and pinch to seal while maintaining the dumpling’s shape in the spoon.
  6. Line the steamer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  7. Arrange dumplings in the steamer, cover, and steam over medium heat for 10 minutes until fully cooked and the wrappers turn translucent.
  8. Brush the dumplings lightly with garlic oil and garnish with crispy fried garlic. Serve hot with your preferred dipping sauce.
