Description

A quick and flavorful Korean Ground Beef Bowl that’s ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 4 green onions, chopped (whites and greens separated)
  • 1/2 cup carrots, finely shredded
  • 1/2 cup broccoli florets (steamed)
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice (or rice of your choice)
  • 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste) – adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Use a spatula to break it up, cooking until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and the whites of the green onions. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and gochujang to the skillet. Mix well and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce is well combined and slightly thickened. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Mix in the shredded carrots and steamed broccoli. Allow them to warm through for about 2 minutes.
  5. In serving bowls, place a generous scoop of cooked jasmine rice. Top with the Korean ground beef mixture.
  6. Sprinkle sesame seeds and the green part of the chopped green onions on top for a fresh crunch. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of gochujang based on your spice preference.
  • Feel free to add more vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas.
