Description

Mac and Cheese is a classic comfort food that combines creamy cheese sauce with cooked macaroni for a delicious and satisfying dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the flour to the melted butter and whisk until well combined. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  5. Cook the sauce over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens and comes to a simmer.
  6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  7. Season the cheese sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated.
  9. Serve the mac and cheese immediately while it’s still hot and gooey.
