Description

A vibrant and easy baked feta dish that captures the essence of Mediterranean flavor. Creamy feta, juicy cherry tomatoes, and briny olives are roasted until golden, seasoned with aromatic herbs and spices. Served warm with crusty bread, it brings bold, rustic energy to any table.

Ingredients

Scale

1 block (200g) Greek feta cheese

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

¾ cup mixed olives (green, black, kalamata)

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 tsp capers (optional)

1 tsp whole mustard seeds

½ tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp dried oregano

Fresh thyme and/or oregano sprigs, for garnish

Cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Place the feta block in a small baking dish or oven-safe serving bowl.

2. Surround the feta with halved cherry tomatoes and mixed olives. Sprinkle in the capers if using. Drizzle everything generously with olive oil.

3. Scatter mustard seeds, smoked paprika, dried oregano, and cracked black pepper over the feta and vegetables. Add fresh thyme or oregano sprigs on top.

4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the feta is soft and warmed through, and the tomatoes are blistered and juicy. The mustard seeds should begin to pop slightly for added aroma.

5. Serve hot with crusty baguette slices, warm pita, or flatbread. Be sure to spoon some of the oil and roasted bits over each portion.

Notes

This appetizer is best served straight from the oven but can be gently reheated if needed.

You can add thin slices of garlic or red onion before baking for extra depth.

A light squeeze of lemon juice just before serving adds brightness and balance.
