Description
Missouri Casserole is a comforting family dinner dish, layered with ground beef, pasta, and cheeses, baked to perfection.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 cup chopped bell peppers (red or yellow)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 12 ounces egg noodles or rotini, cooked al dente
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
- Add chopped onion, bell peppers, and garlic. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until vegetables are softened.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes on low heat.
- Meanwhile, cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Add a layer of pasta, then a layer of cheese. Repeat layers, ending with cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
- Feel free to substitute other vegetables according to preference.
- Can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
