Ingredients
For the Salmon:
-
1 lb fresh salmon, skin removed, cut into 1-inch cubes
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
2 tbsp cornstarch (for crisping)
-
1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
For the Honey Garlic Glaze:
-
3 tbsp honey
-
2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tbsp lemon juice (or rice vinegar)
-
1 tsp sriracha or red chili flakes (optional, for heat)
-
1 tbsp water, if needed to thin the sauce
Optional Garnish:
-
Sesame seeds
-
Chopped green onions
-
Fresh cilantro
Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the Salmon
Pat salmon cubes dry with paper towels.
Season lightly with salt and pepper, then toss with cornstarch until coated. This creates a crisp, golden crust when seared.
2️⃣ Sear the Salmon
Heat oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add salmon in a single layer, working in batches if necessary.
Sear for 2–3 minutes per side, until browned and crisp. Remove and set aside on a plate.
3️⃣ Make the Glaze
In the same skillet, whisk together:
-
Honey
-
Soy sauce
-
Garlic
-
Lemon juice
-
Sriracha (optional)
Bring to a simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
4️⃣ Toss & Coat
Return the salmon to the pan and gently toss in the glaze until fully coated and glossy. Cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute.
5️⃣ Serve & Garnish
Transfer to a plate or bowl.
Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, or cilantro and serve immediately.
Notes
-
Cornstarch is key for a crispy outer layer—don’t skip it!
-
For a lighter version, bake or air fry the salmon and finish in the sauce.
-
Use wild-caught salmon for best flavor and texture.
