Description

Onion Bombs are a delicious, savory treat featuring a flavorful meat mixture encased in roasted onions and wrapped in crispy bacon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large onions
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the outer layers off the onions and cut about an inch off the top. Hollow out the centers carefully.
  3. In a bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and half of the BBQ sauce until combined.
  4. Stuff each onion generously with the meat mixture.
  5. Wrap each onion tightly with bacon strips and secure them if needed.
  6. Place onions on the baking sheet and bake for 45-50 minutes, brushing them with remaining BBQ sauce halfway through.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, consider adding some chopped jalapeños to the meat mixture.
  • These can be cooked on a grill for an added smoky flavor.
  • Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping.
