Description
A warm, gooey, and buttery dessert that tastes just like classic pecan pie — but even easier to make! This treat is pure Southern comfort in every bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups self-rising flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 ½ cups chopped pecans
- 1 ½ cups boiling water
- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, melted
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish and let it coat the bottom evenly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, granulated sugar, milk, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Pour this mixture over the melted butter — do not stir.
- Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the batter, then scatter chopped pecans generously on top.
- Pour boiling water gently over the top (without stirring).
- Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown and bubbles with syrupy goodness.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- The sauce will thicken as it rests, making every scoop perfectly gooey and rich.
