Description
A delightful puff pastry Christmas tree filled with brie, cranberry sauce, and pistachios, perfect for festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets ready-rolled puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg yolk + 1 tsp water (for egg wash)
- 1 wheel of brie (200–250g), sliced
- ½ cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- ¼ cup pistachios, roughly chopped
- Zest of ½ orange (optional, for brightness)
- All-purpose flour (for dusting)
- Baking paper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface to equal size rectangles.
- Spread cranberry sauce evenly over one pastry sheet, leaving a 1 cm border.
- Arrange brie slices across the cranberry layer, then sprinkle with chopped pistachios and orange zest.
- Lay the second sheet of puff pastry on top and gently press down to seal.
- Cut into a large triangle tree shape, reserving scraps for stars or extra decorations.
- Cut horizontal “branches” along both sides of the triangle, leaving a center strip intact as the trunk.
- Twist each branch away from the center to create a spiral swirl effect.
- Brush the entire tree with the egg wash for a glossy, golden finish.
- Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until puffed and deep golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Make sure to thaw the puff pastry thoroughly before use for best results.
- The orange zest adds a refreshing brightness, but can be omitted if desired.
- Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
