  • 2 cups coarsely crushed pretzels
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup mustard-cheddar sauce (recipe provided)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Set Up Breading Station: In one bowl, place the flour. In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the Dijon mustard. In a third bowl, add the crushed pretzels.
  4. Bread Chicken: Dip each chicken breast into the flour, covering it completely. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Finally, coat the chicken in the crushed pretzels, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Bake Chicken: Place the coated chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the crust is golden brown.
  6. Prepare Mustard-Cheddar Sauce: While the chicken is baking, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until heated through.
  7. Add Cheese: Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese and continue stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
  8. Serve: Once the chicken is fully cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
