These Sausage French Toast Roll-Ups are your new favorite morning mash-up! Think savory sausage wrapped in soft bread, dipped in cinnamon-vanilla custard, and cooked until golden brown—just like French toast. They’re warm, slightly crisp on the outside, and bursting with cozy flavor in every bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 slices sandwich bread
- 10 cooked sausage links (pork or turkey, your choice)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon milk
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Unsalted butter (as needed for cooking)
Optional Toppings:
- Maple syrup
- Powdered sugar
- Fresh fruit
Instructions
1. Prep the Bread
- Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice of sandwich bread.
- Trim off the crusts for clean, easy rolling.
2. Add the Sausage & Roll
- Place a cooked sausage link at one edge of each slice and roll it up tightly.
- Repeat for all slices.
3. Make the Custard
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until smooth.
4. Dip & Cook
- Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, coating evenly.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and add a pat of butter.
- Cook the roll-ups, turning every 1–2 minutes, until golden brown on all sides (about 6–8 minutes total).
5. Serve Warm
- Serve immediately with maple syrup, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, or fresh berries on the side.
Notes
- Make sure the sausage is fully cooked before assembling.
- Use day-old or slightly dry bread for better texture—it soaks up the custard without getting soggy.
- Want extra crisp? Cook in a bit more butter or give a final toast in the oven.
