Description

A delicious and hearty breakfast casserole made with sausage, hash browns, and cheese, perfect for any meal of the day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, crumbled
  • 1 bag (20 oz) frozen hash browns, thawed
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (240ml)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (170g)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ cup diced bell peppers (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped spinach (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add breakfast sausage and cook, breaking it apart until fully browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain any excess grease and set aside.
  3. Spread thawed hash browns evenly in the greased baking dish. (Optional) For extra crispiness, lightly sauté hash browns before layering.
  4. Sprinkle the cooked sausage evenly over the hash browns. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and hash browns. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the cheese is golden brown.
  6. Let casserole cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
