Description
A delicious and hearty breakfast casserole made with sausage, hash browns, and cheese, perfect for any meal of the day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound breakfast sausage, crumbled
- 1 bag (20 oz) frozen hash browns, thawed
- 8 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (240ml)
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (170g)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ cup diced bell peppers (optional)
- ½ cup chopped spinach (optional)
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add breakfast sausage and cook, breaking it apart until fully browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain any excess grease and set aside.
- Spread thawed hash browns evenly in the greased baking dish. (Optional) For extra crispiness, lightly sauté hash browns before layering.
- Sprinkle the cooked sausage evenly over the hash browns. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and hash browns. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the cheese is golden brown.
- Let casserole cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
