Description
A vibrant and spicy chutney that combines the sweetness of pineapple with the heat of jalapeños, perfect for adding flavor to grilled meats or as a dip.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 –3 fresh jalapeños, seeded and minced (adjust for heat preference)
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: 1 tablespoon lime juice (for extra tanginess)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Start by peeling and dicing the pineapple, mincing the jalapeños, and chopping the red onion.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the diced pineapple, minced jalapeños, chopped red onion, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, ground ginger, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Cook the Chutney: Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pineapple is soft and the chutney has thickened slightly.
- Adjust Flavor: Taste the chutney and adjust the seasoning, adding lime juice if desired for extra tanginess.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from heat and allow the chutney to cool slightly. Transfer to a clean jar or container and refrigerate until ready to use.
- Enjoy: Serve your Spicy Pineapple Jalapeño Chutney with grilled meats, cheese, or as a dip with tortilla chips!
Notes
- Adjust the amount of jalapeños based on your preferred spice level.
- This chutney can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- For a smoother consistency, blend the chutney after cooking.
