Description

A delicious and easy-to-make pasta dish featuring sticky honey garlic sauce combined with savory sausage, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz (340 g) pasta (penne, rigatoni, or any short pasta)
  • 1 lb (450 g) sausage, sliced (Italian sausage, smoked sausage, or your preferred type)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by cooking your pasta according to the package instructions. Be sure to salt the water generously. Once al dente, drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced sausage and brown on both sides for about 5-7 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar; stir well. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer, cooking for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the browned sausage back to the skillet and stir to coat in the sauce. Simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing with the sausage and sauce. If too thick, add reserved pasta water. Stir in butter for richness.
  6. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley and sprinkle with grated Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Feel free to use any type of sausage you prefer.
  • Adjust the spice level by modifying or omitting red pepper flakes.
  • This dish can be served immediately or stored for leftovers.
