Description

Deliciously thick Valentine’s Day bars loaded with M&Ms and chocolate chips.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups Valentine M&Ms

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 9×13 baking pan with parchment paper, if desired for easy removal, and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugars together until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla, continuing to beat until combined.
  4. Add the baking soda, salt, and flour to the wet mixture, mixing slowly then increasing to medium speed until the dough comes together.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and M&Ms until evenly distributed.
  6. Scoop the dough into the prepared baking pan, spreading and pressing it evenly.
  7. Sprinkle additional M&Ms on top, pressing them down lightly into the dough.
  8. Bake at 350° for 20-35 minutes, checking for a set top without a wet appearance.
  9. Allow the bars to cool in the pan on a wire rack.
  10. Cut the bars, serve & enjoy!

Notes

  • For gooey bars, bake for the shorter time.
  • Bars continue to bake after being removed from the oven.
  • Adding extra M&Ms on top enhances color and presentation.
