Description

These 4th of July Brownie Bites are deliciously rich and decorated in festive colors to impress your guests during the holiday celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup real, unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 16-ounce containers of cream cheese, buttercream, or vanilla cake frosting
  • Red and blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Spray mini muffin cups with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Mix sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix butter, eggs, and vanilla extract together in a separate bowl; add the butter mixture to the bowl with the flour mixture and stir the batter until well mixed.
  4. Spoon the batter into mini muffin cups, filling them 3/4 of the way full. Let the batter sit in the cups for 10 minutes before baking.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-13 minutes, or until edges are brown and centers are set.
  6. Cool the brownie bites in the pan on a wire rack for 3 minutes, then remove from the pan to cool on the rack completely before frosting.
  7. While the brownie bites cool, divide the frosting into 3 bowls. Add red food coloring to one bowl, blue coloring to a second bowl, and leave the third white. Stir in the food coloring, adding more as needed, until the color is well blended and your desired shade.
  8. Arrange the brownie bites into 5 rows of 7 bites on a serving tray or board. Pipe the three colors of frosting onto the bites in a flag pattern.

Notes

  • Ensure not to overbake the brownie bites to keep them moist.
  • Use different shades of red and blue for a more vibrant look.
  • These can be made a day ahead and stored in an airtight container.
