Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth, then mix in the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt, then combine with the wet mixture gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth, then mix in brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, and fold in chopped pecans.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake batter, keeping the layers separate.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until the edges are set and golden, but the center remains gooey.
- While warm, poke holes in the cake and pour the caramel mixture over the surface.
- Scatter pecan halves on top while caramel is warm.
- Let the cake rest for 20–30 minutes before slicing.
