Description
Delicious heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies perfect for any occasion, especially Valentine’s Day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup Valentine sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- Cut the cold butter into small cubes, then place it in a large mixing bowl with the white sugar. Beat together for about 2 to 3 minutes, until the mixture looks creamy and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix again until smooth and light. Scrape down the sides of the bowl so everything blends evenly.
- Add the brown sugar and continue mixing for another 2 to 3 minutes. This helps give the cookies a rich flavor and soft texture.
- In the same bowl, add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cornstarch, and salt. Mix just until the dough comes together.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and Valentine sprinkles until they are evenly spread throughout the dough.
- Scoop the dough into large cookie dough balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each one.
- Gently press each dough ball down slightly. This helps the cookies bake wide enough so you can cut out clean heart shapes after baking.
- Add a few extra chocolate chips and sprinkles on top before baking if you want them to look even prettier.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are set and lightly golden. The centers should still look soft.
- As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, press a heart-shaped cookie cutter into each warm cookie. Remove the extra edges while the cutter is still in place for a cleaner shape.
- Add a few more chocolate chips or sprinkles on top while the cookies are still warm, if desired.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for at least 5 minutes, then move them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days. They taste best within the first 3 to 4 days.
- You can also freeze them for up to 3 months. Place parchment paper between the cookies so they do not stick together.
