Description

Loaded Beef & Potato Bake is a hearty and comforting dish that’s perfect for family dinners. This layered bake combines seasoned ground beef and thinly sliced potatoes, topped with creamy sour cream and gooey cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic 2–3 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef. Cook, breaking it up, 5–7 minutes until browned. Season with paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Layer half the sliced potatoes in the prepared dish. Top with half the beef mixture, dollop and spread half the sour cream, then sprinkle half the cheddar.
  5. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, beef, sour cream, and cheese.
  6. Pour beef broth evenly over the top.
  7. Cover tightly with foil and bake 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15–20 minutes more, until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Rest 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider using flavored beef broth.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Make sure to slice the potatoes thinly for even cooking.
