Description
Salisbury Steak is a comforting dish made with seasoned ground beef patties smothered in rich mushroom gravy, perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and form into 4 oval patties.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until they are tender. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the mushroom gravy and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
- Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, spoon the gravy over them, and let them simmer for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Serve with mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
- Adjust seasoning to taste if necessary.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
