Description

Salisbury Steak is a comforting dish made with seasoned ground beef patties smothered in rich mushroom gravy, perfect for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and form into 4 oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until they are tender. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the mushroom gravy and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
  5. Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, spoon the gravy over them, and let them simmer for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
